Sophie Rocks

Shetland-born harpist Sophie seamlessly blends traditional influences with contemporary music, from Berio to Bowie. A celebrated soloist who has performed at prestigious venues including The Usher Hall, Festival Theatre, and The National Gallery of Scotland, Sophie has garnered recognition as one of the United Kingdom Harp Association's Emerging Artists 2020 and has been featured on BBC Radio 3's 'In Tune'. Her critically acclaimed show, 'Notes from Shetland to Shanghai', has been showcased at the Banff Centre for Arts & Creativity in Canada and the Edinburgh International Fringe Festival as part of the Made in Scotland Showcase.

Sophie's innovative approach extends to her work with The Willow Trio, currently touring the UK with their multimedia adaptation of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, 'The Swan of Salen'. As founder of Glasgow's 'Music at The Green' concert series, she continues to champion genre-defying performances, bringing diverse musical experiences to new audiences.

A passionate advocate for the harp's versatility, Sophie actively collaborates with composers to expand the instrument's repertoire. Through her work at the Scottish Music Centre, she plays a vital role in supporting both established and emerging performers and composers across Scotland. Her upcoming debut EP This Illusionment on Eleven Kinds represents the culmination of these artistic explorations, promising to showcase exciting new possibilities for the harp in contemporary music.
